Quentin Tarantino is plotting the final act of his career — and it’s not what anyone expected.

The director famous for Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill has revealed that his next project is not a film at all, but a stage play. Written and already complete, the play will debut in London’s West End in 2026. Tarantino has hinted that if it proves successful, he may even adapt it for the screen later. For a filmmaker who has spent decades pushing the boundaries of cinema, this move to live theatre marks a dramatic shift.

At the same time, Tarantino has one last Hollywood giant in the works. This Netflix project, with a staggering $200 million budget, is being directed by David Fincher and will bring Brad Pitt back to his role from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The film will wrap in early 2026.

Tarantino explained in a recent podcast interview that he abandoned his planned movie, The Movie Critic, because it felt too similar to his past work. Instead, he is leaning into fresh challenges — theatre, collaborations, and producing. He also reflected on his career, family life, and the evolving nature of filmmaking.

Rick Lyman, TV & Movie Industry Consultant, sees this moment as a turning point. Tarantino isn’t walking away from storytelling, but rather reshaping how he delivers it. By moving into theatre and handing the director’s chair to Fincher, he’s proving that his creative legacy extends beyond the ten films he originally promised.

For film fans, the coming years will bring both a West End premiere and one of the most ambitious streaming films ever attempted. That’s a fitting finale for a director who has always insisted on doing things his own way.
